Sitting, waiting for the world to return to normal, with a pane of glass separating them. They caress one another through the cold smooth glass, making each other sigh without ever touching. They let their imagination take them to a place where those fingers are not their own, and hope for a day that masks and distance are real world we live in has dramatically changed. Charlie Forde and Astrid Love help us reframe just how this terrifying and uncertain moment in time changed our ability to be intimate. It highlights how our separation by distance and physical barriers in this COVID world has only deepened our yearning for intimacy. After all, it’s easy to realise how much you miss something when it’s taken away from you.
